22 week appointment, and prenatal fitness!

So yesterday was a pretty big day. Wednesday night I think I was full of anticipation because I knew it was supposed to be a busy day, plus they were calling for a storm so I didn't get much sleep. Which is a really stupid thing to do the night before having a busy day. But things ended up working out okay.

Greg had to leave early (5:30) for work so I woke up at that time and never really made it back to sleep. By 6am I heard that school was canceled, which meant that my after school volleyball program was canceled, so that took one thing off my schedule. I went to go out to go to my Dr. appointment, and realized the car was sitting on a whole lot of ice...fun times. So after some shovelling/salting etc. I finally got the car out. The appointment was good, I was a little sad because it was my last appointment with my GP, who I love, because from now on I'll be with the OB, who I don't even know yet, so that's a little scary. Big news...well, for the first 18 weeks of this pregnancy I've gained 5lbs, in the last 4 weeks? 9 lbs!! lol I couldn't believe it when I stepped on the scale, it was a little crazy. She just said 'that's great', I couldn't help but laugh. Oh well, if she thinks it's great, then I guess it is.

In the afternoon I had to go to a meeting, which meant I didn't have to come in to the office at all, which was kind of nice. When I came home I got a little power nap in (probably could have slept for the night!) and had a bit of supper. Then I went to my first prenatal fitness class. It felt good to be active again, and to learn what is/isn't safe to do. We'll be doing it 2x/week for 6 weeks. Hopefully the weather will warm up a bit so I can get out walking too. I'm tired because I'm not sleeping well, but I don't think I'm sleeping because I'm not tired enough (make any sense?), so I want to be more active so I'll sleep more soundly at night.

That's all for today. Yay for Friday! So excited for the weekend!

22 Weeks

Some days I feel like time is flying, others like it is standing still. One thing I'll tell you that isn't standing still is the growth of my belly! I'm really starting to feel a difference, trying to get up, or tie my shoes. Not that I can't do these things, just that it's noticeably uncomfortable when I do. Another problem is that my fatigue is starting to come back. I don't know if it's because my sleep hasn't been as continuous as it used to be, or just that my lack of exercise is catching up with me, all I know is it's not even 10am and I'm sitting here yawning away and trying to keep my eyes open.

Tomorrow is going to be an interesting day. I usually coach volleyball, and normally at a much higher level, lots of commitment etc. But this year I cut back to just one day a week in our mini vball program. The only problem is that it happens to run back to back with the new pre natal class that I'm starting tomorrow night. So I leave straight from work to go to the school, coach from 5-6, which makes me pretty tired to begin with, then head home, grab a quick snack and head to my fitness class. So funny, because normally this would be a very average night for me, but these days it seems very daunting and I'm sure it's going to be exhausting. I guess the good thing is that I have a Dr. appointment in the morning so I'm not going in to work until later, meaning I'll get a little bit of a sleep in which should help out. Wish me luck!

21 Weeks

So I've been back to work for a couple of weeks now (since Christmas vacation), and I have to say, concentrating is harder than every. I just keep counting down the days. I know I have a long way to go, and I'm trying to stay focused, but it seems like the weekends just fly by and I don't get all the things done that I want to.

Baby wise, this week I have really noticed a difference in the strength of the movement I've been feeling, a couple of swift kicks here and there. It's just that it doesn't happen all that often. So most nights I spend a little while just laying quietly on the couch hoping to feel something. I had Greg try to feel for a while but his patience just wasn't quite long enough to wait for it. Otherwise I've been feeling pretty well, which has been a blessing. I've even notice that my 'spinny' feelings don't happen as often, and I'm not as sensitive to going for a little while without food, which makes life a lot better. I got a call from the OB's office and I'll be setting up an appointment with them for sometime next week I think. Then I'll be on shared care with my OB and my GP until the end.

So I'm really noticing a difference in the belly these days...crazy!

Greg also started a big project this weekend, putting down hardwood in the nursery! I was so worried that he didn't really know what he was doing, but it looks really nice. He wasn't too impressed with me taking his picture but I'm trying to remember to take more pictures so we can remember everything. The room was painted for a baby before we moved in (3 years ago!) and we haven't done anything except take down the 'Pooh' border. Once the bedding comes in we'll be able to paint, and then really get going on this process!

These are the 'before' pics, even though the hardwood is almost all down now, it was just a plain brown carpet in their before, much better already!

20 weeks! Half way!

Hard to believe, but we are half way done! Counting down instead of up now! And 5 months pg, totally unreal. I am so fortunate to be feeling really well right now. Sleeping is pretty good most of the time, I'm able to eat just about anything I want (just smaller amounts), and I've been in a good mood most of the time too.

I have been pretty lazy overall, not really exercising the way I want to, but I did just commit to a 6 week (2x/week) pre natal fitness class that I'm really excited about. It's at a friend's house that is only a couple minutes away, and since it will be all people I know I will not be able to skip out! I also want to get my butt to the gym a couple days a week to at least get on the elliptical or something but we'll have to see about that.

I'm excited to get going on the nursery as soon as the bedding gets here. I think I've decided to skip some of the expensive furniture I was looking at and go for some simple things from ikea instead. The reason being I know I want a good quality stroller since that will get a lot of use, and I'd rather budget for something like that that needs to be better quality than the furniture that I just 'like'.

That's about it for this week. Still waiting for the cute belly to show up...had enough with the 'muffin top' lol!

Big U/S...Team..

Green! But we knew that ahead of time! They actually won't even tell you gender at our hospital, unless you have to go back for a more in depth screening later. If you want to go pay for your own 3d u/s you can find out there, but we are happy knowing it's a surprise, and are so excited to find out on our baby's birthday.

The process was actually a lot quicker that we had thought. Most people said it was 1/2 hour or more, but it wasn't more that 15 minutes for us, guess we had a cooperative baby. It was really cool to see. Baby is 14 ounces, and is lying there with his/her feet right up over the head. Watching the heart beating was amazing, and seeing all the fingers and toes. It's still a little surreal that it was actually 'our' baby we were looking at.

I still haven't felt a whole lot of movement, and my bump isn't that big, but I'm sure both of those are going to change really soon. I can' believe we are half way already!

Nursery drama

I was so excited when I ordered my crib bedding, I had everything planned out in my head. Then 3 days later I get an email that the bedding is 'no longer available'. (Then why is is still on your website!?) So I've spent hours and hours scrolling through tons of different baby sites thinking 'who spends this much on crib bedding?'. Until I finally found what I wanted.

Right now I'm waiting for a shipping quote from an ebay seller before I decide where to buy it from. But here is the new crib bedding.

DH is currently upstairs ripping up carpet so he can install new hardwood. Then as soon as the bedding arrives we'll pick paint colors and get to work! I'm excited to have this all underway.

Christmas 08

Since it was a possiblity that we may not be interested in travelling next year (with a 7 month old!) we figured we had better get all of our travelling in this year. We did stay home Christmas eve, and then had dinner with Greg's brother and family (three little girls) before we headed off to my parents place(1.5 hour drive). We stayed there for 3 nights and then drove to Greg's parent's (3.5 hours) where his little sister, who is a chef, made us a great dinner. Finally returning home on the 29th (2 hour drive) because we had a Dr.'s appointment on the 30th.

After that we took it pretty easy. Spent a lot of time just puttering around the house, a little bit of shopping and visiting but that was about it. I made an attempt at cleaning up our 'junk room' which somehow is going to magically turn into a baby's nursery over the next couple of months. New Year's was pretty low key as well. I had to play at my churh for mass then we just went over to our friend's new house, they now live in our neighborhood so it was perfect. We just hung out and chatted for a while, the boys played poker, and then we watched the CanadavUSA hockey game. Made it home around 1:30, a very late night for me! The next day we were storm stayed the whole day.

That's about it, here are some pics !

So much to catch up on!

I have been a terrible blogger, and seeing as this is acting as my pregnancy journal too I have a lot to catch up on! First thing, I actually missed my 17 week belly pic, don't think there is that much of a difference so should be okay. But here is pic for last week, 18 weeks!

Coming along, right? It's starting to feel a lot different, definitely baby and not bloat these days.

So what were we up to baby wise? We did have an appointment over the holidays, heart beat was 130 (last time was 140). Otherwise all was pretty normal, my blood pressure was still low, but I guess I'm just going to have to deal with that. And we have our big u/s coming up this Friday! Crazy how fast this time is flying by.

I also got some great hand me downs while I was home. My sil and my best friend both gave me a bag full of stuff and when I got back I went through my closet and reorganized, bagged up the 'pre pregnancy' stuff, and sorted everything out. I love having a clean organized closet, makes getting dressed a whole lot more fun!

Another big thing, which actually sent me into a bit of a tailspin the other night, was that we ordered our bedding. After looking in every place possible around the city on Saturday I came to the realization that I was going to have to either make my own crib bedding or buy something online. The only options I could find were Winnie the pooh, Jungle themes, teddy bears...and did I mention Winnie the pooh? Anyway I got online Saturday night and ordered this awesome bedding from 'allmodernbaby.com', and I love it!

The reason it through me off a little is because up until now I haven't really made any concrete purchases, besides clothing for me, and this kind of made things feel 'real', very strange. I had a hard time sleeping because my mind was just racing all night. I mean, half way? How did that happen? Also, all the costs associated, this is not a cheap venture, and I hate to see Greg get stressed about money, but I also want to buy things that I actually like.

There's lots more to catch up on, but this will have to do for now.

Happy New Year everyone!!
