6 months!

Seriously? Half a year, I can't believe it! Every day is so much fun, there is no sound greater than a laughing baby. Even going to the doctor yesterday was fun as Lyla was the entertainment for the whole waiting room! She was laughing and giggling, and smiling at everyone in the room.

What's new in Lyla's world? Sitting up is much easier these days, and she's actually caught herself instead of falling flat on her face a few times! On her stomach she can push herself either in circles or backwards across the hardwood floor. She rolls all over the place. And everything goes straight to the mouth.

Speaking of the mouth, she started solids last week. Rice cereal first, which daddy is much better at getting her to eat than me! Also a little bit of chicken, and some carrots last night! mmm mmm. So weird having her eating real food. It also takes a little more planning, I'm going to have to get things more organized.

Really looking forward to celebrating Christmas with our family this year. Haven't done too much shopping yet but getting there. Can't wait to see Lyla's face when the Christmas tree goes up!

5 Months old!

Once again, somehow another month has slipped by, and my little girl is now 5 months old! She is more and more fun every single day. She is still refusing to take a bottle, so we've pretty much stopped battling that and have decided we will just start working on a sippy cup so that I can have a little more flexibility.

Bedtime is consistently 7-7:30, and most nights she sleeps through til the morning, but sometimes she wakes somewhere between 2-5, but I just get up and feed her and she falls right back to sleep. Now I'm trying to decide if I'm going to pull out some of the 'sleep training' principles to apply to nap time, because that is not very consistent.

Here's my 'big' happy 5 month old

Now that she's such a 'roller' you never know where you'll find her in the morning. When she's on her tummy I don't really know how she's comfortable, but her snoring seems to mean she likes it

She's now sitting up by herself, which she wants to do all the time!

But her favorite thing by far is standing up all by herself!

Halloween!

Such a cute chicken!

I love Halloween!

We had a lot of fun on Halloween. Lyla did great, even though I was dragging her in and out of the car, and getting her in and out of her costume all day!

Thanksgiving Day at the farm

Lyla had her first Thanksgiving this weekend. Yesterday we had our dinner, it was a small one but really nice. Greg actually made dinner which made it even more enjoyable. Lyla and I went to church while he stayed home and cooked the turkey...on the BBQ! lol

When we got home my sister Pam came over to enjoy dinner with us and then stayed for a visit. It was really nice to spend some time together.

Today, Greg and Lyla and I went to RiverBreeze farm, with the intention of picking a pumpkin at the u pic pumpkin patch. But after walking through the corn maze and looking at the animals Lyla wasn't in the mood to wait in line for the tractor ride that would take us there. So we just went up to the market and bought a couple of pumpkins and some yummy brownies and headed home.

Of course I forgot the camera in the car while we were at the farm so we just took a couple of pics. So cute in her new vest room from her auntie Karen.

4 Month appointment

We headed in for our 4 month appointment yesterday, Lyla did great. She is weighing 12lbs 4 oz and is 60 cm long. So she grew 5cm and gained almost 2.5 lbs since her 2 month. The needles were hard on her, but as soon as I got her in her sling she stopped crying. Last night she was pretty cranky. She did wake up at 12 but then slept until 7:30 so that was great.

Today she has been pretty whiny, but is right now having her second nap, so hopefully she'll feel better after that.

I am truly falling more and more in love with this girl every day, she is so amazing. I need to do a quick recap!

-Starting at 3 months she LOVES standing! She just needs her hands held
-She's rolling front to back, she started that at Kindermusik class
-She had her real first laugh last week, it was hilarious, I screamed and that scared her, lol
-She's been sleeping pretty great from the beginning, but about 2 weeks ago we went home to PEI and she was really tired so I put her to bed at 8:30 and she slept until 7:30, the next night it was 8:30-8:30! Now she almost always sleeps 10+ hours, she's been fantastic!

She is such a cutie, I need to get some new pics done very soon!

Wow...3 months goes very quickly!

It's hard to believe, but Lyla was 3 months on Monday...and I'm just getting to this now. A lot of people said 3 months is the big change, where you feel more in control etc. and it sure happened for me over the past couple of weeks.

I have a lot of stuff to catch up on here, I dealt with some pretty difficult postpartum emotions and I think that will be a whole separate post. But for now, I think I'll focus on the positive, and show off my gorgeous little girl.

Looking forward to reconnecting with people!
